The piano has been a part of jazz since the inception of the genre. The instrument’s wide range and expressiveness have made it a staple for jazz orchestras, combos, and solo performers. I use the piano’s percussive side to begin “In A Hurry” to create a sense of urgency and consequence. The piano becomes more melodic as the song progresses although it continually sets the beat with powerful low notes and chords.
Saxophones and jazz music were made for each other. Its soulful sound is perfect for ballads to bebop. I used both an alto and tenor sax in my jazz single “In A Hurry”. They keep the energy and rhythm moving throughout the piece.
