About Me

My Red Guitar

My parents told me that when I was young, I would not go anywhere without my red Roy Rogers guitar. I remember that the body was made out of cardboard with white rope stenciling along the edges. The neck was wood but the fingerboard plastic. I would throw a fit without it. I was to young to really know what it was but I wouldn’t go anywhere without it. I guess this means I was born to play guitar.

Here I am with my second red guitar. I got this one just before going off to college. It helped get me through living away from home for the first time. I guess I was not only born to play guitar but I was born to play red guitars.

My Influences

I was heavily influenced by the 60’s rock and roll I heard while I was in grade school, graduating to heavier rock in the 70’s and then losing myself in the blues while in high school and college.  A move to California in 1978 opened up new musical doors.

In 1984 I began studying flamenco guitar with the great Mariano Córdoba. This changed my life. Never underestimate the value of a wonderful teacher. My playing reached levels I never thought possible.

I was always interested in classical music before I even knew what it was. My dream of composing was realized when I completed “When I Was Young”.

I have also completed the Hans Zimmer Film Scoring Masterclass.

The Passion Of The Guitar

A lonely silhouette: guitar, guitarist.

A long shadow of melancholy melodies flickering slowly in a setting sun.

Desolate yet hopeful, the song drifting forward on a breeze warm and dry,

Down the dusty pathways, down the river to the soul, blossoming in the heart.

The passion of the guitar, touching those needing to be touched,

Warming those needing to be warmed,

Saving those needing salvation.

A long shadow of melancholy melodies flickering slowly in  a setting sun.

A lonely silhouette: guitar, guitarist.
